  3. Why is it fastmail.fm?
  4. We wanted a name that represented what we were all about, providing the fastest email service around. Unfortunately in the .com cyber-squatting world, all the names close to what we wanted were already taken, so we chose to initially avoid the .com address space and settled on .fm as something easy to remember as a shortening of "Fast Mail". For the interested, .fm is the top level domain of the Federated Republic of Micronesia (a federation of 4 states comprising more than 600 islands in the Pacific). Though none of our servers are located there - we have standard servers and a high speed connection in the US.

  9. FastMail.FM doesn't look very pretty. Can I make it look nicer?
  10. It's FastMail.FM, not PrettyGraphicsMail. We're much more concerned with adding more features, than making everything pretty. Suffice to say, we think we've come up with a pretty good compromise of looking neat and acceptable while maintaining speed. Our main areas of concern are improving user productivity. This means being able to do more things, quickly and easily. If you've got ideas for things that would improve the useability or appearance of FastMail.FM, please contact us using the FastMail.FM support system.

You may have noticed that you can already alter the display style of FastMail.FM on the Account Preferences screen. This is done using style sheets, which are a useful way of separating content from style. Many of these style sheets have been contributed by users. If you'd like more information, or help in developing your own style sheet, see this forum thread for more information.

    user@fastmail.fm: host fastmail.fm said: 554 user@fastmail.fm:
Recipient address rejected: Account locked for abuse or overuse; see
      http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/faqparts/Email.htm#Locked

This means that this account has been locked. Normally this simply means that the person you are sending to has gone over their bandwidth quota for this month. You'll be able to send to them once they have purchased enough bandwidth.

The other reason can be that the user breached their Terms of Service (such as by spamming), or they have gone over their bandwidth quota. If you received an unsolicited commercial email ('spam') which contained a reference to a FastMail.FM address, that address would have been terminated because the FastMail.FM Terms of Service do not permit this type of use. If you want more details of why this email was rejected, please contact the Postmaster.
